The New York Times recently reported that the US Supreme Court sided with an adoptive mother, who had split with her former lesbian partner, who is the birth mother of three children.
The Alabama Supreme Court refused to recognized the adoption which had been granted in Georgia in 2007. The decision restored visitation right to the adoptive parent until the US Supreme Court considers what to do. The decision in this case could dictate whether various states must recognize adoptions from other states.
