Many divorcing couples ask how to resolve their divorce and other family law issues outside of a court room.
Alternative dispute resolution, or ADR, is an umbrella term used to describe a variety of methods for resolving disputes outside traditional methods such as litigation.
The Michigan Supreme Court has published a Court ADR Pocket guide which answers most questions about the various approaches to resolving disputes by alternative methods. The guide answers:
1. What is ADR?
2. How do court use ADR?
3. Why do courts use ADR?
The information is available at the Michigan Supreme Court website: http://courtadr.org/pocketguide/.
